“The human body heals itself and nutrition provides the resources to accomplish the task” Roger Williams Ph.D.
Nutritional Therapy combines science (biochemistry and nutrition) with naturopathy (natural drug-free medicine) in order to return a person to a good state of health. It works holistically to focus on the cause of a problem rather than the symptoms
Nutritional Therapists do not claim to cure any condition, but will often work with people referred to them by nutritionally minded medical practitioners and deal with chronic health problems that conventional medicine may find difficult to treat. Recommendations may include guidance on therapeutic diet, natural detoxification, procedures to promote colon health, methods to support digestion and absorption, the avoidance of toxins or allergens and the appropriate use of supplementary nutrients, including phytonutrients. For more information on Nutritional Therapy go to:only. It is a complementary therapy different to both nutritionists and dieticians, popular in the UK, but relatively new within New Zealand, and as such some Nutritional Therapists get called Nutritionists.

A Nutritional Therapist will:
- give one-to-one confidential consultations, initially of about 75 minutes, during which your goals will be discussed, followed by a detailed assessment of current health, medical and family history and diet and lifestyle
- conduct shorter follow-up review meetings if required, the number and frequency depending on the complexity and severity of your condition, the average number being two follow-ups
- explain the physiological impact of complex biochemical imbalances and nutritional deficiencies to help you to understand your condition, assessment and treatment plan
- recommend laboratory tests if necessary (blood, hair, urine or stool), which give indications of allergy, intolerance, mineral toxicity and the functioning of your liver, hormonal and digestive systems
- agree on a personalised dietary, lifestyle and nutritional supplement (if necessary) plan based on either health history alone or after the analysis of laboratory results
- offer free telephone or online support during treatment
